The project has consisted in a comprehensive housing reform that has followed the concept of recovering the essence of the historic building in which it is located, in addition to making a complete redistribution of the space to improve its functionality. It has chosen to enhance the character of the house through the open spaces, natural walls without coverings, combined with modern furniture elements and a continuous wooden floor. The lightness of the elements, such as the flight of stairs or the large glass windows, give the space the freshness and spaciousness necessary for an apartment of these characteristics.

Inspired by the neighborhood in which it is located, the reform has wanted to create a spacious and modern space, with a fresh style with traditional accents. The separations of walls that created small rooms have been demolished to generate an open space at double height that allows the passage of natural lighting and ventilation. In addition to take advantage of the height of the space has been created a second floor as a loft in which it has been able to generate a new room and has a part of the glass walls for the use of natural light that floods the living room-dining room through the terrace.

Some elements have been restored to maintain the original character of the house, such as the roof, which has been left to enjoy its traditional Catalan volta, very characteristic of the old buildings in the area, or some of the walls without Coating show the old structure of the building. These elements enhance the industrial and modern style. The color palette of the set is neutral colors like white, symbol of purity, spaciousness, quality and elegance, and is combined with the materiality and warmth of brown and beige colors given by the wooden floor, the walls or the roof in brick seen. These materials provide warmth, balance and tranquility and their textures generate visually stimulating sensations.

As for the redistribution of the spaces, the concept of open spaces has been followed to create a distribution that consists of living room, kitchen, 2 patios, 3 double bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. To improve the habitability and meet the needs of the users of the space we have as a result a bedroom suite and a shared bathroom for the two remaining bedrooms. In this case, the common day zones of the night zones are distinguished by the only wall separations present in the whole space.

The final goal has been to renovate a space that was apparently old-fashioned and dark, creating a new home in which tradition and modern coexist creating a fresh and bright atmosphere while relaxing and warm, and in which the spaces are perfectly functional, taking into account the comfort and needs of users.
